This Creative Week, Sound & Motion’s Cape Town branch joins forces with artists, musicians and filmmakers of innovation to present an exciting menu of events.  Read further and join us from 9th till 11th September for film screenings, live music recordings and an art exhibition!

Featured Artists

SHNIT FILM FESTIVAL, PRE-FESTIVAL CINEMA SCREENINGS

The Harrington St studios house an intimate and superb cinema, “The Indigo Room,” which is hosting their friends from the Shnit Short Film Festival.  Only 1 month away from the 9th installment of this event, access to this cinema mixing studio gives viewers a chance to check out previous top entries as the director intended them…loud and proud!  And who knows, perhaps a few teasers of next month’s viewings could be in the offing.   To find out more about this groundbreaking international film festival, check outwww.schnit.org

“The Shnit International Film Festival captivates audiences year after year with a Grande Bouffe of short film garnished with bright magenta.

This year’s edition presents a feast of cinematic treats.  Nearly 300 films from around the world can be enjoyed on the occasion of the 9th edition.  We offer you a menu of distinguished tastes—mild and hearty, sweet and adventurous, crispy and juicy or home flavor and exotic delights.”

“THE FLYING DUTCHMAN,”  EXHIBITION OF ARTWORKS BY HENDRICK GERICKE

In the studio’s ground floor is a live recording area called “The White Room,” which has hosted many bands and audiences in the form of the live recording performances, “The White Room Sessions.”  For Creativeweek this will form a dual purpose as we have great pleasure in hosting the works of Hendrick Gericke.  For more information, surf towww.flyingdutchmanart.com

From the Artist: “The art I produce is primarily to reflect my views of the world to the audience, albeit in a manner that is often not a direct reflection of that world, but somewhat more interpretive. I wish to stimulate the same curiosity in others through my art as I experience through the world I see around me.”

WHITE ROOM SESSIONS, LIVE MUSIC PERFORMANCES AND RECORDINGS

If you are a fan of the Cape Town music scene you’ve probably heard of Sound & Motion’s “WRS”or White Room Sessions.  These are usually by invitation and a small audience is gathered with a killer band in our live room and recorded, just for fun!  Recently these events have also been streamed live.  Previous bands and artists include Inge Beckmann, Graham Weir, Andy Jameson (Cabins in the Forest), Amanda Tiffin, Monique Hellenberg, Jack Sharp, Shy Guevaras, Edi Niederlander and many more.  For more info and to hear/see previous sessions, check out our studio blog onwww.soundandmotion.co.za/blog

For Creative Week we are joined by A’Capella darlings D-seven and as a polar opposite, electronic music and loop pioneers “Jeremy Loops.”

D-seven

D-seven are an all-male a’capella vocal performance group from Cape Town. Performing on some of the world’s  largest platforms with top national artists, D-seven have established themselves as a premier entertainment act.

D-seven , is a bold ensemble that has set the South African music performance scene alight with tight sets, fitted suits, slick moves and smooth music.

Jeremy Loops

Jeremy Loops ain’t no traditional ‘band’, creating music on the spot with that there loopdaloop pedal. Various artists also join him for free jam sessions & the music they create is all original – it’ll definitely make ya dance like a hick!
